Xoco's main concept is the change in narrative, turning a negative experience into something positive: An unfortunate event -dropping an ice cream cone- gives way to a novel flower vase, both decorative and functional. Made by slip-casting onto ceramic plaster molds, the two main pieces are then joined, polished and detailed;the cap is carefully cut from the main body of the vase, resulting in the characteristic sinuous curve at the top of the vase. The final piece is then bisque-fired at 1050°C, covered with glossy black glaze and, finally, enamel-fired at 850°C.
